XI International Blues Festival of Corralejo (Fuerteventura) 27.10.2018
Last Saturday, October 27th, 2018, Momi Maiga Blues Band performed at the XI edition of the International Blues Festival of Corralejo (Fuerteventura), along with other national and international bands such as The Olrait Band (Gran Canaria), Rockin Johnny (Chicago, USA), Aurora & The Betrayers (Madrid, Spain), Jimi Taylor Band (Fuerteventura), Quique Gomez & His Vipers (Spain) and Paul Orta & The Blues Reunion Band (Texas, USA).
"The African blues of Momi Maiga fascinated the audience, especially because of the presence of the Kora, a traditional instrument from the big continent, and the way to play it, creating an incredible sea of sonorities."
The young Senegalese, Momi Maiga -descendant of the Cissokho family of Ziguinchor-, show to all of us an instrument whose knowledge has been transmitted by his family for generations, the Kora, and the Malian Adama Kone demonstrated his virtuosity with Djeli N'Goni "(Radio Onda Fuerteventura)

Africa is the continent of orality. It is through oral traditions that we can reconstitute the history of the deep Africa, the real Africa. It is this oral collective memory, which has safeguarded the worldview of their ancestors until today.
How to study the Kora and the Korafola (the one that makes the Kora speak) throughout history and time? The Kora as a cultural object and testimony of different civilizations, and the Korafola as a social actor, without forgetting that one can not be functional without the other.
This organic study of the Kora and the Korafola, includes historical, sociological aspects, scales and modes of tuning, popular repertoire, mode of learning and technique of execution of this instrument.
The new interpreters of this instrument are taking it by ways unknown until now; Kora, is entering another musical dimension.
Concert in Pygméteatern, Stockholm 05.10.2018
Momi Maiga Band, played in Klubb Mariama, at the Pygméteatern Theater in Stockholm (Sweden).
The concert was applauded by the public with emotion at each end of the song, and even being an intim show, people dared to go out and dance in some of the most joyful and festive themes of the repertoire.
Moments of warmth, joy, and surprise is the result of the overall concert.
