Maiga, born in Gambia and growed up in Senegal, West Africa (03/21/1999), in the Cissokho family, the carriers of the knowledge of the Kora and the history that this instrument has. At 6 he moved to live in southern Senegal, in Ziguinchor, the capital of Casamance. It was there that Momi came into contact with the Kora thanks to his mother's father and brothers, who all played the Kora.

 

The vocation and the artistic inheritance of his family environment were also reflected in his interest in music, and in particular by the Kora. It's because of this, that his uncle, Solo Cissokho, had built a little Kora for him. He began to play little by little, while he listened to his uncles and cousins ​​play, and to his mother and grandmother sing the traditional repertoire Mande of the Kora.
